Strawberry Preserves Rustic Cabin celebrates its name in every way. Nestled at the base of Strawberry Mountain, this one of a kind family cabin is a naturalist's dream. Backing right up to the Tonto National Forest, hiking, riding, backpacking, bird watching, exploring are a single step away. Fossil Creak to the west and Tonto Natural Bridge to the east positions this cabin in the heart of "Rim Country". After 3 years of upgrades our newly remodeled cabin is finally back open for visitors! This rustic cabin in the woods has been in our family for more than 40 years. The original owner/builder was a master craftsman, repurposing materials from buildings like the old Elk's Lodge in Phoenix. Exposed wood beams, textured real-wood paneling, custom cabinets, and interior stonework all speak to a one of a kind, authentic cabin experience. Recent upgrades to the property include a new septic system, all new plumbing and electrical, lighting, furniture, locally sourced pinewood finishes, and the addition of a full bathroom upstairs. This cabin is a summer home, with its collection of memorabilia, nicknacks, artwork, photographs, books, games, and various other items that contribute to a lifetime of place-making and family memories. Guests are welcome to use, peruse, investigate, contribute to, and respect the artifacts of this place. Wifi is available, but we recommend taking the opportunity to unplug and soak up the experience of a true get-away with family and friends. Fresh Linens, Toiletries, Pots, Pans, Dishes and Silverware are available, along with various paper products, condiments, spices, tin-foil, plastic-wrap, and sandwich bags for your convenience. Our wooded property is situated on an incline at the foot of Strawberry Mountain, so watch your step and stay aware of your surroundings. Over 239 species of birds, including eagles, hawks, and ravens inhabit the forest as well as the Rocky Mountain elk, both mule and whitetail deer, squirrels, black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, fox, javelina, and coyote. Small pets may be allowed with prior notice and pet fee. Absolutely NO smoking allowed on the property. Parking on the property is limited to 4 vehicles. Outdoor fires are not allowed on the property.
