Named after President Grover Cleveland in 1886, Cleveland Park was first settled by American Uriah Forrest, who built an estate named Rosedale in 1793. Located on Newark Street, Forrest's farmhouse is said to be the oldest standing house in Washington. Cleveland Park is bounded by the neighborhoods of Woodley Park to the south, McClean Gardens to the east, Van Ness to the north, and Mt. Pleasant to the west. A quiet enclave of families and working professionals, approximately three miles from Downtown, Cleveland Park is a charming and diverse neighborhood offering tree-lined, walkable streets, historic homes, and public parks, Known for its small-town vibe and history, Cleveland Park offers its inhabitants easy access to Downtown and surrounding commercial attractions without having to deal with overcrowded venues and expensive housing.
