Just a few meters away you have El Rastro - a historic market that takes place every Sunday, and which has been going since the middle ages. El Rastro is the perfect place to pick up a souvenir to commemorate your stay in Madrid. After that, a few minutes north of the apartment is Plaza Mayor; the main square of the city and a must-visit destination. Also nearby you have the Reina Sofía National Art Museum which holds a large collection of works from Dali and Picasso. For food, we recommend the Ástor Gastro-Place for great cocktails, fine dining, and a great ambiance. Otherwise, you could check out DCorazon for traditional tapas in this cozy underground restaurant. Finally for transport as you are in the center you have innumerable bus and taxi options available. The closest metro station is Lavapiés. Additionally, you also have Embajadores, La Latina, and Puerta de Toledo metro stations to take you around the city and further afield.
